What is The Princeton Hot Seat?

The Princeton Hot Seat is a new recurring photo blog to highlight the transient nature of the rowing community in the Princeton, New Jersey area.  It's open to anyone directly involved with the sport of rowing that comes to Princeton on rowing "business".  Could be rowers, coxswains, coaches, boatmen, officials, etc.

How does the Hot Seat Work?

Each subject gets four questions to answer, the first of which is simply, why are you here (in Princeton)?  Then the subject randomly draws the remaining three from a pool of pre-determined questions, of which half are rowing related, half are not...and can be pretty random.  They get one pass.

On the Hot Seat today is Marlee Blue of the USA JW4-.

Princeton Hot Seat - Why are you in Princeton?

Marlee Blue - I am training to try and win the junior world championships in the straight four!

PHS - What is on your pre-race iPod playlist?

MB - I like to listen to the Pandora lullaby station, the chillest music you can find.  Maybe a few Passenger songs, I really like that.

PHS - If you could be the best at another sport, what sport and why?

MB - Ultimate frisbee.  It's such a cool sport and they get the best pictures because they're in these long, outstretched positions and I live for the pictures!

PHS - Do you have any advice for rowers wanting to try out for the junior national team?

MB - Even the girls on the national team need ice cream!  Seriously though, the girls on the national team love to row and give themselves to the sport, but they're not out there rowing 17 hours per day.  No one that you're competing against is untouchable, so if you're doing your best and training as much as possible, that could be enough.  Someone has to make the team, so why couldn't it be you?
